In February 2008 an inital RFC for a new club/team based competition was posted to the TUA admin mail list. These are the relevent emails from the list

This is a summary of the initial email correspondence. For more details information, refer to the emails below

The competition should be called TUC
Would make a good lead up to Nats/Mixed Nats/Uni Games
Requirements on team size/make-up
Registration should be club based
- a large team fee + smaller individual fee
- onus on team captains to organise teams and make sure payments are made
Strict rules on gender matching
Incentive to perform well in the round-robin stage of the competition
- ie. a team finishing last should not still be able to win the final
A draft system to handle new players once the competition commences; taking into consideration
- suitability of team (ie. uni students on the uni team)
- partners/firends
- previous participation with team
Find a viable/appropriate time a location
Really need to bring back the social aspect of Ultimate
- evening games may not be conducive to having a drink afterwards - people want to go home an eat dinner
  - could holding games after dinner avoid this?
A focus on making it a elite competition, and a stepping block to Regionals/Nationals

Some concerns:

How does it fit in with league?
- should be considered a total independent entity with a different focus
- should also be treated separately from rep team trainings
Weather conditions during winter are no conducive to elite Ultimate
- it will teach people to play in trying conditions, which should hopefully improve their skill

Inital Proposal

This was an initial proposal for the new competition:

4 teams
5 men/2 women gender matching
minimum of 10 players (3 women) on the team roster
- a condition for forming a new team(?)
2 weeks of finals
- semi - 2v3
- final - 1 v semi winner

note: the gender ratios may be altered if there is a lot of interest from women
