Awarded to: Shavawn Donoghue
I nominate Shavawn Donoghue for the tireless efforts she put into directing the first National ultimate tournament to be held in Tasmania for 20 years. Shavawn's efforts first in winning the bid to host AMUC '09, putting together a tight and well organised tournament organising committee and then running a very professional tournament are no mean feat. Successfully TDing a National tournament is a very large job. The positive feedback and response from both AFDA administrators and from players who played AMUC '09 says it all.
Awarded to: Alysia Prevost
For the large amount of personal time put in to help out behind the scenes at AMUC'09 and the Tasmanian Two-Hat XI. Alysia was always on hand to help with all the small jobs that needed doing, and did a phenomenal job off managing the AMUC'09 volunteers while the rest of the TOC were of playing in the tournament.
Awarded to: David Cooke
Dave has been involved and influential in the Tasmanian Ultimate community at least since 1992 - clearly the longest involvement of any player in Tasmania. Dave was an inaugural member of the Tasmanian University Ultimate Club and has been active in this club ever since.
Dave's performance record is exemplary. In 2002, Dave was a member of Choice Cuts, the first Tasmanian team to compete at an Australian Ultimate Championships since 1989. In 2010, Dave was a member of Bad Apples at Nationals in Adelaide and he has played in 4 out of the other 5 Tasmanian teams which have played Nationals in the modern era. Dave has also played in 5 out of 6 Tasmanian teams to play at Mixed Nationals. Since formal leagues began in Hobart, Dave has played in at least 41 out of 42 league competitions (or 45 out of 48, depending on how you count divisions), has been league organiser for at least 4 of these leagues, has been team captain on numerous occasions, has played in every Tasmanian Two-Hat team, has attended TUA meetings since the association was incorporated, has won the AFDA volunteer of the month award, has played more Tas Uni pickup games than anybody else and has managed to do all of this with excellent spirit and a friendly smile. Dave has also been the driving force between the development of the TUA strategic plan and was the catering manager that put excellent Tasmanian food on the map at the AMUC'09, held in Hobart, and at various Two-Hats. This is merely a selection of some of Dave's achievements in ultimate in Tasmania - given Dave's record, it is pretty hard to be comprehensive!
Dave is the most enduring, high spirited, friendly and welcoming player we have in Hobart. As it has said on the TUA web site for many years, in relation to the Uni club, Dave is a stalwart of the Tasmanian ultimate community. This applies equally to his contribution to the TUA.
