The Treasurer is the chief financial management officer for the TUA.
The Treasurer is directly responsible to the President of the TUA, and the members of the TUA.
Duties of the Treasurer include:
Ensuring the TUA financial records are up to date.
Preparing an annual budget and monitoring it carefully.
Liaising with League Directors and Tournament Directors to oversee the income and expenditure of the event.
Managing AFDA number entry onto the AFDA website for AFDA fee payments.
Managing signatories of the TUA account.
Sending out accounts and invoices.
Paying accounts for the TUA, after approval of the TUA committee of expenditures.
Keeping a proper record of all payments made, and money received.
Showing evidence that money received is banked, and appropriate documentation kept for all money paid out.
Providing monthly reports at TUA meetings to the committee that are understandable to all.
Providing financial reports for leagues, tournaments, and other TUA-run events to the committee that are understandable to all.
Producing an annual financial report as soon as possible after 31 December of each year.
Arranging for the annual audit.
Ensuring all necessary information and documentation is provided for the internal or external audits.
Reading and updating the TUA Financial Policy.
Assisting the Executive Committee in the development of one-year operational plans.
Assist the Committee in the creation, renewal, and approval of TUA policies where needed for good governance.
Be subscribed to afda-congress, tua-admin and any other relevant TUA committee and executive email lists.
Complete a handover interview on entering and exiting position.
Access to internet, email, web, word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Strong written (especially email) and oral communication skills.
Be a member of the AFDA and TUA and abide by their policies.
Work well in a team.
Ideally the Treasurer is someone who:
Communicates effectively and has good interpersonal skills.
Is well organised.
Has a good knowledge of the TUA and AFDA operations, rules and policies.
Is well informed of all organisation activities.
Has the time to regularly maintain the books.
Is able to keep good records.
Is able to work in a logical orderly manner.
Has knowledge of the information needed to be kept for the annual audit.
The Treasurer is elected at the TUA AGM and is appointed for a term of 12 months.
The estimated time commitment required as the Treasurer of the TUA is 5 hours per week.
